INDIVIDUAL VINYL
For my second project, my task was to create a vinyl decal that I could stick on any surface for decorative purposes.
First, I had to create an idea for my decal. I wanted to do something related to snowboarding, so I looked up the logo for one of my favorite brands, Arbor. When I found a picture I liked, I copied it and pasted into Illustrator.
Then I started designing the decal in Illustrator. I had to expand my picture, and create outlines. Then I wrote the company's name, using text and a font I thought was cool. This is what I came up with:
Next I started to cut the vinyl using the GraphTec FC 7000
Then it was time to put the decal together
Final Product:
Overall, I learned a different process of setting up a decal. I never thought of a decal as having different layers of vinyl, instead I thought they would all be printed out exactly how they were designed. I also learned a different way to use Illustrator, and how to set up a vinyl cutter using the program. If I were to do it differently, I would have chosen a different way to apply the layers of vinyl to have a better looking final product. Overall, I'm still very pleased with how this project turned out.
